Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has etched his name into Galatasaray’s history books after scoring twice to lead the Turkish giants to a 3–1 UEFA Champions League victory over Bodø/Glimt, setting a new club record in the process.
Osimhen’s brace at the electrifying RamsPark in Istanbul saw him surpass Burak Yılmaz’s long-standing record of scoring in six consecutive European matches, a feat originally set in 2012. With this latest performance, the Super Eagles forward now holds the record for the most consecutive goals in European games for Galatasaray.
The 26-year-old, who made a permanent switch from Napoli, wasted no time making an impact. Just three minutes into the game, Osimhen opened the scoring with a clinical low finish after running onto a precise through ball. His record-breaking strike came in the 33rd minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake before calmly rounding the goalkeeper to slot home his second of the night.
Galatasaray sealed their victory with a third goal from Yunus Akgün, who finished off an unselfish assist from Osimhen. The win marked a turning point for the Turkish champions, who had previously won just one of their last 18 main-draw European fixtures.
This latest triumph extends Galatasaray’s remarkable run of 21 wins in their last 23 games across all competitions, reigniting hopes of a deep Champions League campaign.
The continuation of the Victor Osimhen Record run which includes goals against European powerhouses such as Tottenham and Liverpool—cements his position as one of the most in-form strikers on the continent and places Galatasaray firmly on course for a historic UCL knockout-stage appearance.
