The event, which served as the maiden E1 Championship race in Africa, was hosted in Lagos as the penultimate round of the season.
Led by driver Timmy Hansen, Team Brazil delivered a flawless performance from pole position, maintaining their lead from start to finish in Sunday’s final race. Their victory earned them 38 crucial points, boosting their position in the overall standings and setting up a tense finale as the E1 World Championship heads to Miami.
While Team Brazil celebrated their Lagos win, the broader championship battle grew even more intense. Team Brady, despite finishing fourth, retained the top spot with 154 points. Team Rafa, owned by tennis legend Rafael Nadal, placed fifth and trails closely behind with 151 points. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s Team Blue Rising impressed with a second-place finish in Lagos, tightening their grip on third with 145 points. Team Drogba Global Africa, co-owned by football icon Didier Drogba, secured third place to complete a thrilling Lagos podium.
The Lagos race not only delivered exhilarating on-water competition but also showcased the city’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Speaking at the event, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu emphasized that hosting the E1 series was about more than just sport. “This is about innovation, environmental responsibility, and positioning Lagos as a hub for future-focused development,” he said.
The successful staging of Africa’s first-ever E1 Grand Prix has solidified Lagos’s place in global motorsport history.
