Spotify has launched a major update to its shuffle feature, introducing the new “Fewer Repeats” mode, designed to reduce repeated songs and keep playlists feeling fresh and diverse. This change directly addresses user complaints about hearing the same tracks too often when shuffling large playlists.
The “Fewer Repeats” mode uses advanced algorithms that track recent listening history, making recently played tracks less likely to appear again soon. It is now the default shuffle experience for all users, both Free and Premium, and is intended to provide a more varied and engaging session from your existing playlists and music library.
Users also have improved queue control, allowing them to tap any song to play next without reshuffling the entire playlist. Premium subscribers can switch back to the original standard shuffle through their settings if they prefer the older, more random playback style.
The update reflects Spotifyโs ongoing focus on enhancing user experience, helping listeners discover more music, enjoy greater variety, and transform daily listening into a fresher experience.
