Nigerian senator and businessman Ned Nwoko has once again stirred public debate after boldly declaring that every man should marry more than one wife. The lawmaker, who represents the Delta North Senatorial District, shared his views during a recent interview on Channels Television, where he spoke openly about marriage, faith, and his polygamous lifestyle.
Nwoko, a successful lawyer, politician, and philanthropist, is well known for his traditional views on family and marriage. Married to Nollywood actress Regina Daniels and several other wives, he has openly promoted polygamy as a natural and balanced way of life. During the interview, he explained his philosophy with a humorous analogy that quickly caught the attention of viewers.
“I am sure you have a wife and also girlfriends,” Nwoko said with a smile. “Now imagine I ask you to stand on one leg. That is difficult. But when you stand on two, three, or four legs, you are more balanced. That is how I see it. I actually feel sorry for men who have only one wife because it is like standing on one leg.”
When asked about the biblical view on polygamy, the senator confidently responded that his beliefs align with the Old Testament. “The Old Testament supports it, and I am a man of the Old Testament and a man of faith,” he said.
The interviewer went on to ask if he planned to marry more wives. Nwoko laughed and replied, “That is not what we are here for.” However, when asked if he would make the same choice again, he did not hesitate. “Of course, yes. I would do the same thing again and again,” he declared.
Reacting to comments about his preference for young and beautiful women, the senator smiled and said, “That is just the way it is and the way it should be.”
He also addressed allegations of domestic violence, dismissing them as completely false. “No, come on. I am not a violent person. I respect my wives, I love them, and I love my kids. So, not at all,” he said firmly.
Over the years, Senator Ned Nwoko has become one of Nigeria’s most talked-about public figures. Beyond his political and business career, his personal life has continued to draw attention, especially his strong defense of polygamy. He often describes the practice as both traditional and practical, saying it preserves cultural values and strengthens family structures.
Supporters of the senator praise him for proudly embracing African traditions and challenging Western ideals about marriage. Critics, however, argue that his stance promotes gender inequality and does not align with modern views on partnership. Regardless of the debate, his comments continue to spark conversations about polygamy in modern Nigerian society.
As discussions around culture, religion, and marriage continue to evolve, Senator Ned Nwoko remains unapologetic about his beliefs. For him, having more than one wife is not only a personal choice but also a reflection of his faith, heritage, and understanding of balance in family life.
