Sagamu, Ogun State – The Ogun State Government has announced it is moving to expedite the prosecution of popular TikTok content creator, Ademola Abiodun, widely known as DJ Chicken, following a series of road traffic incidents that officials say pose a significant threat to public safety.

The decision, made public by the Ministry of Justice, specifically targets an incident that occurred in Sagamu on November 1, 2025, where DJ Chicken allegedly crashed into two motorcycles, seriously injuring a rider and a female passenger.

The Spark: Sagamu Collision and Attempted Flee

The core of the legal action revolves around the Sagamu crash. According to the Ministry’s statement, DJ Chicken’s actions following the collision were particularly concerning:

  • He reportedly crashed into two motorcycles, causing serious injuries to two occupants.
  • Eyewitnesses claim he was unremorseful and attempted to leave the scene, a move that provoked an angry reaction from passersby who restrained him.

The Ogun State Government, through its Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, has directed relevant officers to expedite action on the pending case for prompt arraignment.

A Pattern of Recklessness

What has elevated the State’s response from a civil matter to a criminal one is the alleged pattern of reckless driving. The Ministry noted that the Sagamu crash is not an isolated event:

  • The popular entertainer was reportedly involved in another road crash on November 23, 2025, in Lekki, Lagos State, a lone-car incident that narrowly missed pedestrians.
  • This latest crash is cited as reportedly the third road incident involving Mr. Abiodun at the wheel in just two months.

The Ministry of Justice stated that while many road traffic collisions can be resolved as civil wrongs, “some road users are special dangers to society and should be held to account under criminal law. Mr. Abiodun is one such person.”

“Mr. Abiodun’s heedless return to the wheel with no greater care just three weeks after makes it imperative that the state must intervene to protect the public – especially as there is an organic outcry against his continued driving,” read a portion of the official statement.

The Road Ahead

The Attorney-General’s office is currently working closely with the Police to complete the required processes for the arraignment.

This definitive step by the Ogun State Government underscores a commitment to prioritizing the safety of its citizens and sending a clear message against reckless driving, regardless of a person’s social status.

The public will be watching closely as this high-profile case proceeds, which many see as a necessary action to curb dangerous behaviour on Nigerian roads.
