The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has confirmed the abduction of six Lagos-based real estate marketers at Oyebola Village in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. The incident occurred on Friday and was officially verified during a telephone interview with Punch on Sunday, November 30, 2025.
According to a local resident who initially raised the alarm, the marketers were attacked while visiting land belonging to their company. CP Ogunlowo clarified that the team had traveled from Lagos to inspect the property in preparation for upcoming sales and marketing activities.
“So, they brought some marketers from Lagos to come and see the land so that they can have the requisite information to market the land for the members of the public who are interested,” the Commissioner explained.
He stated that the abduction took place during the inspection visit, adding that the command immediately launched an investigation after the incident was reported.
“It was during their visit to this land that the six people were abducted. It happened on Friday, and the command had been on it since, and we shall definitely ensure that these people regain their freedom,” Ogunlowo assured.
Security analysts note that kidnappings targeting real estate professionals have become an increasing concern, especially for those conducting site visits in remote or underdeveloped areas. Such incidents pose significant threats to the safety of workers and hinder operations for property firms expanding into hinterland regions.
The Ogun State Police Command has urged the public, especially businesses in the real estate sector, to remain vigilant. The police emphasized that all necessary resources are currently being deployed to track down the perpetrators and secure the safe release of the abducted marketers.
