JANDOR 2027 ELECTION

Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor and the 2023 Lagos State governorship candidate, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to shelve any plans of contesting the 2027 presidential election. Jandor described a potential comeback bid by Jonathan as a “political risk” that is bound to fail, asserting that no one including the former president can defeat the incumbent, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Speaking in a recent interview, Jandor based his remarks on what he described as the unmatched political intelligence and resilience of President Tinubu. He drew a sharp comparison between the two leaders, emphasizing their contrasting political trajectories.

According to him, Tinubu remains “a master in the game of politics,” recalling how the former Lagos governor played a pivotal role in unseating Jonathan during the 2015 general elections. Jandor noted that Tinubu’s rise to the presidency was the result of “relentless strategic work,” built over decades of political alliances, struggles, and sacrifices.

He contrasted this with Jonathan’s path to power, saying, “If you accidentally found yourself at the Aso Villa as President, it is different from somebody who gave his all to get there.”

Jandor further dismissed claims that Jonathan’s past experience or popularity could pose a challenge to Tinubu’s administration, urging the ex-president to heed the advice of his wife, Patience Jonathan, who reportedly warned him against returning to active politics.

Jandor also commended President Tinubu’s handling of the economy, particularly his controversial decision to remove the petrol subsidy.

He described the policy as a courageous and necessary step toward restoring fiscal responsibility and ensuring that Nigeria’s resources benefit all levels of government federal, state, and local rather than “lining the pockets of a privileged few.”

According to Jandor, such bold reforms have further strengthened Tinubu’s standing and credibility, making him “virtually unbeatable” in the 2027 presidential race.

As political discussions ahead of 2027 begin to intensify, Jandor’s comments have added another dimension to the national conversation about leadership, legacy, and Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
