Ogun State, Nigeria โ Two people have been confirmed dead following a serious road accident involving British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua on Monday, December 29, 2025.
The incident occurred during the morning hours along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Makun area of Ogun State.
According to reports from eyewitnesses and local authorities, the vehicle conveying the former heavyweight champion, a Lexus SUV, collided with a stationary truck.

The crash happened near the Danco filling station axis.
First responders at the scene confirmed that while Joshua was successfully pulled from the wreckage, two other occupants of the vehicle tragically lost their lives on the spot.
Rescue operators reported that Joshua was seated in the rear of the vehicle at the time of impact.
Despite the severity of the collision, which left the SUV significantly damaged, the boxer reportedly sustained only minor injuries.

Local authorities and the Ogun State Police Command are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.
Joshuaโs security detail, who were reportedly traveling in a separate vehicle behind the Lexus, assisted in the immediate rescue efforts.
