Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially directed the commencement of a judicial inquiry into the recent violent killings in the Lamurde Local Government Area. The move is aimed at uncovering the root causes of the unrest and ensuring that those responsible for the loss of lives and property face the full weight of the law.
The Governor’s decision follows a series of clashes in the region that have raised significant security concerns across the state. In a statement released on Wednesday, the administration emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for communal violence and its commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North-East region.
The judicial panel of inquiry has been mandated to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the Lamurde conflict. It will also assess the extent of the damage and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences. Governor Fintiri assured the public that the probe would be transparent and impartial, urging residents of Lamurde to cooperate with the committee and provide relevant information that could assist in the investigation.
Security agencies have also been placed on high alert to forestall any reprisal attacks while the panel carries out its duties. This proactive step by the Adamawa State Government highlights the importance of justice and accountability in resolving regional conflicts. By prioritizing a legal and structured investigation, the Fintiri administration seeks to provide closure to the victims’ families and reinforce the stability of the state.
