Goal Rain Expected: Super Eagles Offered ₦14m Per Goal for Nigeria vs Mozambique AFCON Round of 16 Clash

The stakes have just been raised for Nigeria’s national team. Ahead of the highly anticipated Nigeria vs Mozambique AFCON Round of 16 encounter, a prominent Nigerian business mogul and partner of the Super Eagles has promised the team a staggering $10,000 (approximately ₦14 million) for every goal scored in the match.
This financial windfall comes as a massive boost to the squad as they prepare to take on the Mambas of Mozambique at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Morocco on Monday, January 5, 2026.
A Massive Increase in Incentives
The new ₦14 million-per-goal offer represents a 100% increase from the incentive structure during the group stages. Previously, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and partners had rewarded the players with $5,000 per goal.
Having already scored eight goals in their first three matches, the Super Eagles have already banked a significant sum, but this latest “goal bounty” is designed to ensure there is no complacency as the tournament enters the “win or go home” phase.
Mozambique’s Own Motivation
Nigeria isn’t the only team with a financial carrot dangling in front of them. Mozambique’s President, Daniel Chapo, has reportedly promised his players a special bonus of 500,000 meticais (around $7,000 or ₦11.3 million) each if they manage to pull off an upset and eliminate the three-time champions.
Mozambique’s head coach, Chiquinho Conde, has already warned that “big names don’t win matches,” signaling that his team is ready to fight for the historic quarter-final spot.
