Financial Technology Firm Launches Campaign to Combat Fraudsters’ Antics

In a proactive effort to safeguard its users, a prominent financial technology platform, PalmPay Limited, has issued a public caution, urging its customers nationwide to be extra vigilant against the rising sophistication of scammers and fraudsters.

The cautionary message was delivered by the platform’s Managing Director, Chika Nwosu, during a public sensitization road walk in Kano, aimed at empowering the public with knowledge on how to protect their financial well-being.

The Drive for Zero Fraud Incidence

Despite noting that the overall number of fraud incidences is on a downward trend, the platform emphasized its commitment to achieving a “zero level” of fraud on its system.

“We want to have a very healthy financial ecosystem. We want to eliminate everything that is fraud on our platform. We don’t want anybody who is using PalmPay to be a victim of fraudsters,” Nwosu stated.

The managing director explained that the ongoing campaign is driven by complaints received across their customer care lines and social media platforms, underscoring the necessity of continuous customer safety education.

Key Safety Advice to Avoid Scammers

To protect their funds and personal data, the platform issued critical warnings against the most common fraudsters’ antics:

  1. Verify All Links: Customers should exercise extreme caution with links received on their phones or social media platforms like Facebook.
  2. Do Not Click Untrusted Links: Any link that appears suspicious or is sent from an unverified source should be avoided immediately.
  3. Be Wary of Antics: Stay alert to all common fraudulent tactics, which often involve attempts to steal personal identification numbers (PINs) or sensitive account information.

This Fintech fraud alert serves as a vital reminder that while financial institutions utilize advanced security measures, the final layer of protection rests with the customer’s awareness and due diligence in the digital world.
