Fidelity Bank Plc has provided significant relief to indigent patients at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital Parklane by clearing outstanding medical bills and offering financial aid to children facing chronic health challenges. This intervention also included the distribution of essential antenatal kits to expectant mothers.

Empowering Communities Through CSR

The outreach was orchestrated under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme. This specific project was spearheaded by the Optimizers Inductees Class which is a group of newly hired employees as part of their community impact initiative. The bank matched the funds raised by the inductees to maximize the reach of the project.

Dr. Meksley Nwagboh the Divisional Head of Brand and Communications at Fidelity Bank emphasized that the project aligns with the bank’s core pillars of social responsibility. He noted that the bank aims to go beyond traditional financial services by actively improving lives in its host communities. He stated that the support allows families to reunite for the festive season without the heavy burden of hospital debt.

A Lifeline for Families in Need

The impact of the donation was deeply felt across the hospital. Chief Matron Esther Nnaji of the Children’s Ward praised the bank for providing a lifeline to families managing expensive treatments for conditions such as cancer and sickle cell disease. She noted that the bank’s intervention would allow many children to return home to their siblings.

Beneficiaries shared emotional testimonials about the bank’s support. Adaeze Ilo who had spent months in the hospital with her baby expressed gratitude for the relief that came during a moment of despair. Another parent named Jane Anthony shared her joy at being able to spend Christmas at home with her son which was a milestone she previously thought was impossible due to their financial situation.
