Former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has confirmed he received an official invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami, who served under the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, publicly acknowledged the development in a statement posted on his social media page on Thursday. He pledged his commitment to fully cooperate with the anti-graft agency’s investigation.
In his confirmation, the Former AGF stated: “This is to confirm that I have been invited by the EFCC. As a law-abiding and patriotic citizen, I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation.”
He emphasized that public service accountability and transparency are core values he has consistently advocated and championed. He committed to keeping the Nigerian public informed about the developments as they unfold.
While the specific nature of the allegations prompting the EFCC summons remains undisclosed, the move signals the Commission’s widening anti-corruption probe into key officials of the preceding administration. Malami’s compliance sets the stage for a notable inquiry by the nation’s foremost financial crimes watchdog.
