Ekiti 2026 election

Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged residents, political parties, and stakeholders in Ekiti State to actively support the 2026 electoral process by participating in voter registration and promoting trust in the system.

Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti, made the appeal during an interactive session with residents in Ado Ekiti, emphasizing that the success of the upcoming governorship election, slated for June 20, 2026, relies on collaboration among all parties.

Dr. Omoseyindemi highlighted the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which is in its first phase and will run until December 10, 2025. He encouraged eligible citizens to register and participate in the next critical stage, the claims and objections period, from December 15 to 21, 2025, which ensures transparency and fairness in the electoral roll.

The REC warned against the spread of false information, stressing that rumours can create tension, provoke conflict, and erode trust, ultimately undermining the credibility of elections.

By actively engaging in the CVR and electoral education initiatives, residents can contribute to a free, fair, and inclusive 2026 governorship election that truly reflects the will of the people.

Dr. Omoseyindemi concluded by reaffirming INEC’s commitment to maintaining transparency, credibility, and public confidence throughout the electoral process in Ekiti State.
