Former Vice President and prominent Nigerian politician Atiku Abubakar has intensified his push for a united opposition, meeting with state chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja to stress the urgent need for collective action. The meeting, which included ADC leaders from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, served as a formal welcome for Abubakar following his recent registration with the party.
The delegation, led by Kogi State ADC Chairman Ogga Kingsley, expressed delight in receiving the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain as a new member. In response, Atiku wasted no time, declaring that the country was currently on a “collective rescue mission” and urging all members to complete their registration swiftly.
His move to the ADC, after his high-profile resignation from the PDP over what he termed irreconcilable internal differences, signals a clear intention to rally a strong political coalition.
“The APC is bent on wrecking our country, and we are ready to stop them from doing so,” Abubakar stated, affirming a shared goal with the ADC leadership to work toward a secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria. This gathering marks a crucial step in positioning the ADC and its allies as a formidable political front ahead of future elections, focusing heavily on mobilizing grassroots support and challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
