Senate President Godswill Akpabio has made a strong declaration that Nigeria must secure victory in the persistent war against insecurity. Akpabio’s unequivocal statement was made on Wednesday during the ministerial screening of former Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, who was nominated as the new Defence Minister.
Addressing the security crisis that continues to plague the nation, the Senate President asserted that winning the war is a non-negotiable obligation to future generations. He drew a parallel, stating, “If God can assist the world to win the war against COVID, then we can win the war against insecurity.”
Akpabio stressed the need to focus solely on achieving success in the battle against terrorism and violent crimes, downplaying any focus on “collaborators,” “conspiracies,” or “enemies of Nigeria.” His comments reflect the widespread national urgency for concrete results in stabilizing the country.
The screening of General Musa comes at a pivotal moment, with the government facing intense pressure to address escalating kidnappings and banditry. Akpabio’s message reinforces the National Assembly’s stance that a total victory over the current security challenges is paramount to ensuring peace, unity, and a better future for Nigeria.
